PICAELATURA

Eric Decastro applies paint to a wet background, washes out entire sections of freshly painted canvases and continues painting once they have dried, producing up to 30 layers of thinned and viscous acrylic paint on the canvases that are laid out.
The result is a relief landscape of colour in a mainly monochrome setting that also embodies a figurative motivation. Structure encounters shades of colour in carefully balanced mixing ratios. There is a brilliant luminosity and intensity of colour immanent to the concentration of form in these paintings, overlapping to produce colour-poetic, harmoniously composed structures and networks.
