“We are all astronauts”

The universe of Richard Buckminster Fuller as reflected by contemporary art

The great architect, designer und visionary Richard Buckminster Fuller viewed cosmopolitanism, the willingness to experiment and (technological) intuition as essential elements of his art practice. He was in close contact to many creative minds during his life. His combination of careful thought and spontaneous, playful understanding and his holistic view of the universe fascinated many artists – and, at the beginning of the 21st century, is doing so again. The exhibition in Marta Herford and the catalogue illustrate this interest in the spectacular ideas and visions of the early 1960s, with intriguing works from twenty-two international contemporary artists.
