Wood is Werner Schlegel’s preferred material, and he uses the entire spectrum of its possibilities, in quite different ways, in order to transform it into simple physical-spatial entities. For many years, Werner Schlegel has passionately realised his vision of powerful expression that lies between gentle poetry and dynamic construction.

This catalogue gives a multifaceted overview of the oeuvre of this sculptor and artist since 1992. Taking as its point of departure, the key works that have motivated different cycles of work of the artist, the second section of the books details new works from 2003 to 2005.

In harmony with the sculptural world of Werner Schlegel, the musician Uli Lettermann has created a “kietokatalog”. The music follows the creative process of the works of art, their structure, and the rhythm of the forms and symbols in a sensual, musical way. The result – a filmic interplay of art and music – is available as DVD with the catalogue, thus creating a combination of musical and filmic composition that is also an independent product.
