Fokus Ägypten — Focus on Egypt.Past/Present |

|
The Arab world is currently a focus of our attention. In general, the presentation of this world is dominated by images of religious fundamentalism, of tourism’s view of antique civilisations, and images of holidays at the Red Sea. The catalogue and the exhibition Focus on Egypt. Past/Present by Kunstverein Hildesheim, provides new images that add to the archaeological perspective on Egypt, created by museums, using contemporary images that are a world away from tourist attractions, clichés and political newspaper headlines. Young, internationally famous artists from Egypt, Switzerland and Germany have produced this different view. They provide new connections between the familiar and the unknown, between and here and there, and between the past and the present. artists Peter Aerschmann, Hala Elkoussy, Rana ElNemer, Maha Maamoun, Haubitz+Zoche, Tarek Zaki |
