OWL 1Kunst in Ostwestfalen-Lippe |

|
This book presents 26 artists from the region of Ostwestfalen-Lippe. These artists either live and work in the region or are from the region but now live in Berlin and Cologne. This contemporary art does not display any one style or unified reaction to common influences. Instead, it is shaped by a great variety of artistic ideas. What is consistent is the idea of a state of tension between locally influenced identity and the formative trends present in the cultural centre. The history of art has repeatedly shown that artistic practice both in the cultural centre and in the periphery can play decisive roles. Therefore this comparison of contemporary art is even more interesting. The first volume focuses on artists from the area around Bielefeld and Herford. artists Susanne Albrecht, Ellen Brusselmans, Anika Budde, Christine Gensheimer, Asta Gröting, Angelika Höger, Timo Katz, Bruno Krenz, Elisabeth Masé, Sandra Stephanie Meinders, Gabriele Undine Meyer, Martin Mühlhoff / Christan Vossiek, Matthias Müller, Andreas Neumann, Emanuel Raab, Anette Rose, Lars Rosenbohm, Erik Schmidt, Nicole Schuck, Alexandra Sonntag, Jürgen Stollhans, Wolfgang Waesch, Kristine Wedgwood-Benn, and Weizenfeld |
