Stefan Löffelhardt

Tal Grund – The Valley Floor

In recent years Stefan Löffelhardt has created an oeuvre of sculpture that tackles the theme of landscape in a particular way. In his installation “Tal Grund – The Valley Floor”, he has produced a multi-perspective image of a landscape that can be accessed by the viewer, and which reflects upon the relationship between people, nature and culture in fluid forms and colours. Again Löffelhardt has used tatty, ordinary recycled materials, but this time there are living plants too; this unusual combination releases a poetic power. This examination of romanticism, set against the pragmatism of modernity, transforms the painterly installation into a landscape full of fragments and uncertainties. For the first time, Löffelhart’s photographs of artificial, staged landscapes are being exhibited.
