Who would expect to find a blazing fire in a broom cupboard or an explosion in a model kit including a turkey, a partridge and a pheasant? Eckart Hahn puts everyday objects to unexpected use, removing them from their familiar context in order to create new connections: However it is never really clear whether these are interior or exterior spaces. Our focus is directed towards individual scenes that – like dreams – create an unreal effect when combined with the selected motifs, quite unlike the accurate sharp detail of the photographic representations of the objects. Hahn processes personal experiences in his images and connects these to fantastic elements to create a new reality that the viewer must try and decode: What is happening or what is going to happen? Time stands still before the progression of a story whose ending is uncertain.
