Klaus Lomnitzer

[tswi:]

Klaus Lomnitzer’s art questions the world that is open and accessible to him. He questions it so insistently that its limitations, but also his desire to overcome these limitations, become evident. His art is both figurative – almost always revealing his dream worlds of familiar, representational figures – and abstract. With an eye to the technical possibilities offered by new visual media, he creates dreamlike paintings with encapsulated memories and associative recognition. The phonetic spelling of the title [tswi:] indicates what his pictures are capable of: creating atmospheric states of uncertainty between different realities
