Ida Kerkovius “My World is in Colour”

Pastels, Watercolours, Oils and Rugs

The Stuttgart-based Expressionist Ida Kerkovius counts among the leading exponents of Classical Modernism and is especially well known on account of her close ties to Adolf Hölzel and the Bauhaus in Weimar. First and foremost among her works are the pastels she produced while travelling in Italy and Norway. These are shown here alongside paintings, watercolours, mixed-media works and two hand-woven rugs. Most of these pieces, some of which have never before been published, come from a private collection in Dresden, and are supplemented here by others belonging to the Chemnitz art museum.
