Jörn Grothkopp

The works featured in this book are by the artist Jörn Grothkopp and include groups of works of still lifes, landscapes, individual portraits, shoals of Koi and groups of people. Grothkopp is not interested in photorealistic painting or painting as photography. Instead, the picturesque soft focus in his works prompts a paring down to the fundamentals and at the same time an anonymisation of the documented motif and temporal experience. While Grothkopp merely hints at the inherent individuality of his material, he creates extraordinarily intense images of concepts and recollections.
