The Erfurt Subculture of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s
which spans a period of thirty years. Besides looking at numerous individual
artists, this book focuses primarily on the private galleries, home groups, the
female artists’ group, and the Punk movement. In addition to an in-depth look
at the mechanisms of action of state security, further thematic highlights of this extensive stocktaking are the links with other subcultural centres in the GDR, particularly Berlin, Dresden and Chemnitz, and the special role played by the Church.
