Dirk Brömmel creates new perspectives with this extraordinary photo book: true to detail and photographed from above, ships become novel objects that want to be discovered and explored by the viewer. Five categories- cargo ships, passenger ships, ships on China’s Grand Canal, gondolas in Venice and the floating markets in Thailand- were arranged by five design agencies into distinct chapters. The book is enhanced by a text by Klaus Honnef, who has written numerous books on contemporary painting and photography. Kopfüber blends art and design to create an elaborately arranged display-and turns leafing through the book into an event.
