Portrait of a collection
Donation Gisela and Dr. Wolfgang Flügge
The Flügge collection is a unique portrait of one couple’s love of art. There are no limits to the collectors’ passion when it comes to individual art forms or the diversity and variety of artists in the collection. Over the years, they acquired more than 600 works of primarily western German art of the 1980s and 1990s.
This extensive collection was donated to the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz in 2005 and consists mainly of graphic works, paintings, sculptures and photographs by renowned German artists. Many Eastern European, Spanish, Finnish and Swiss artists are also represented. The collection is completed by individual works produced by artists from the former East Germany.
