Laura Straßer

Loved Mass – Porcelain Histories

“White gold“ has been at the heart of Laura Straßer’s work since 2004. The young product designer uses it for both fine, artistic objects and for utensils. It is not only the aesthetic of the material or the explicit elegance of her works that are to the fore, Straßer often also investigates the history of the porcelain itself: she examines forms and decoration but also the manufacturing process of her objects. Trade and cultural exchange between Europe and Asia, together with more recent developments regarding the old phenomenon of the “copy“, are also the focus of her thoroughly artistic investigations. This catalogue, which can also be read as a workbook and sketchbook, attempts for the first time to bear witness to Straßer’s work in a special way.
