Sonja Vordermaier
The Invisible Volume
Originally planned as an exhibition catalogue for Sonja Vordermaier's solo show ‘The Invisible Volume’ at the Institute of Modern Art Nuremberg, the idea of a book developed a momentum of its own during the collaboration with graphic artists Timo Hinze and Anne Gille. The result goes far beyond the concept of a simple exhibition catalogue, combining installation views, photographic works, archive visual material and work-in-progress material. The focus of this artist book is the invisible volume – which has not yet become, or indeed is no longer, visible – as well as the exploration of the visual intelligence of images which pursue the visible even as it eludes our grasp.
