Collage Sculptures
The terms ‘collage’ and ‘sculpture’ represent a pair of opposites, contrasting the three-dimensional sculpture with the flat collage. Ever since the classical modern period, however, this contradiction has increasingly given way to numerous hybrid forms of these two media. The publication ‘Collage Sculptures’ shows a selection of plastic works by Isa Genzken, Rachel Harrison and Manfred Pernice. The degree of vagueness of the title of the exhibition, ‘Collage Sculptures’, corresponds to the nature of the works shown, which cannot be unequivocally allocated to either of the design forms.
