The work of the Italian painter Wainer Vaccari leads the viewer into a surreal cosmology populated with enigmatic male and female figures in mysterious sceneries. With a strong painterly intensity and an interplay of the unconscious and the macabre, he jars his audience and stimulates reflection. In his latest body of work as in the past, Vaccari questions forms of perception and illustratability. The thirty or so paintings and twenty paper works gathered together in this exhibition catalogue depict a formal strategy that alternates between Post-Impressionistic light painting and digital matrix, between compaction and dissolution.
