Franz Xaver Ölzant

Ideas – Process – Form

With his innovative ideas about sculpture, Franz Xaver Ölzant (*1934) is part of one of the most important movements in Austrian sculpture in the 20th century. His work spans more than five decades. Figurative works in stone and cast bronze were his main area of focus in the late 1950s; in the 1960s, these were replaced by abstract images of people and nature, a continuing theme of Ölzant's work to this day. The search for form is key to his work. This catalogue provides the first-ever overview of the sculptor's complete oeuvre.
