Claus Weidensdorfer

Dancing to the Music of Time

Following in the footsteps of his teachers Hans Theo Richter and Max Schwimmer, Claus Weidensdorfer has been working almost exclusively with drawings and graphics since the 1950s. Starting by studying people, city architecture and landscapes, and themes from history and music, right up to the latest manifestations of pop culture, he has been developing a teatrum mundi of our times, with a pronounced feeling for its scurrilous and ironic aspects. This exhibition and catalogue provide, firstly, an overview of all this highly esteemed artist’s work right up until the most recent examples. Extensive material relating to exhibitions and publications has been added to the catalogue raisonné of Weidensdorf’s grafic works in the Lindenau Museum, Altenburg.
