Andrea Zaumseil

The spectrum of Andrea Zaumseil’s art works extends from large-format drawings to three-dimensional pieces, and to monumental works in public places. “Zaumseil’s pictures speak, they follow a logic of their own, and yet they do not come into being without contemplating and experiencing reality.” (Volker Adolphs)
One of Zaumseil’s most impressive works is his Monument to the 2002 Plane Crash in Überlingen. The shiny steel beads in this work, “The broken string of beads,” lie in the landscape, lost and misplaced. They evoke the abrupt way the thread of the victims’ lives was ripped apart.
