Rudolf Jahns
Collagen
Over the course of his sixty-year career, the artist Rudolf Jahns frequently turned to the collage, exploring its possibilities in terms of color and material. Besides constructivist collages that play with variations on color and form, as well as his collaged drawings, the collages from 1958 are of great importance to Jahns’ oeuvre. These subtle, small works of art are made of materials such as admission and transit tickets, packaging, newspaper clippings, and even rags. This publication is the first to present a precise examination of Jahns’ collages and their significance in his overall body of work.
