Jo Fischer
In Syke
Jo Fischer is a shooting star among young German photographers. He regularly travels the world collecting stories for Der Spiegel magazine and for Leica Fotografie International. For the In Syke exhibition at the Syker Vorwerk, Fischer relocated temporarily to Bremen to undertake photographic research there—on the city of Syke, the surrounding area of Lower Saxony, and the people who live there. The photographer is particularly interested in everyday stories from everyday life, small incidents, as comic-grotesque as they are cryptic. His photo stories were created in rifle associations, on farms, or in rustic restaurants, where he took portraits of individuals and entered into conversation with them.
This resulted in the creation of an impressive photographic diary, which is presented in this volume.
