Beuys for Everyone!

Multiples

Joseph Beuys constantly worked towards making changes in the individual and in society. To do this, he seized on new and innovative art forms such as the multiple – a series of art objects, prints, book and film editions. From the beginning, these works were an expression of the Beuysian concept of the democratisation of art and, right up to the present time, form the core of his world of work and ideas. Their broad distribution in particular played a major role in establishing and raising the profile of the ‘Beuys brand’. In contrast to his other works, Beuys desists from trying to provoke the viewer but instead aims to provide access to everyone: Beuys for everyone, as it were. Featuring approximately 80 works and in the context of film and sound documents, this catalogue brings Joseph Beuys’ work alive in book form, allowing us to examine the relevance of his ideas in today’s world.
