Tim Sandow
Blind Date
In his figurative painting, Tim Sandow (*1988) brings together the imagined cliché of a type of person with a superabundance of details. The painterly quality thus forcefulness inveigles us to such an extent that the credibility of what is shown is called into question. Situations that seem to come from day-to-day life appear perplexing at second glance. The paintings give the impression that they are inviting us into their world and ultimately cause us to recoil again and again from the vacant stares of the people who populate the pictures. The gaze thus repeatedly looks for stability in the embellishments, which at least give us the deceptive feeling of being part of this world.
Tim Sandow’s first monograph provides extensive insights into his works of recent years.
