Laura Kärki

Laura Kärki (*1978) is a Finnish visual artist who lives and works in Berlin. She makes use of ceramics, textiles and photography; she draws, paints, and writes poems and creates soundscapes. Kärki appreciates errors and misconceptions, does not shy away from processing experiences of shame or uncertainty in her works.
The publication includes an essay on Kärki’s art written by Kati Kivinen, the creative director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, a discussion conducted by Kärki and the German curator and author Christine Nippe, and a preface by the curator Veikko Halmetoja. The visual material comes from her entire creative period, but focuses on more recent works.
