Strenges Holz

The work of Helga Weihs, Heiner Szamida and Jan de Weryha-Wysoczanski is connected by their common use of the organic material wood and its particular nature and characteristics, which he gives artistic shape and order. These three artists take issue with the given reality of the material wood in ways that are both self-contained and tantalising. The artists each develop their own individual and independent ways of understanding the relationship of formative culture to the growth of nature as something that is not oppositional. Rather, they use the work of art as a showcase that removes the contradictions of human activity.
