Vera Molnar

Als das Quadrat noch ein Quadrat war ...

The art of Vera Molnar, born in 1924 in Budapest, resident in Paris, is a consideration of the geometric and the systematic. Her simple, clear geometric shapes are striking: they express a >>certain order>>, which moves >>between total chaos and perfect order>> (Molnar). The artist describes how the degree of chaos in one of her pictures always varies: >>the beauty of a picture increases, as the percentage of chaos decreases. But some chaos is always necessary>>. She places her >>visual situations>> next to each other, in order to compare and analyse them. This, in turn, becomes a deliberation on the principle of the series: its goal is to create deviations, often minimal, between the individual pictures.
