Regula Syz
Red Raven – Black Poppy
The Swiss artist Regula Syz (b. 1946) opens our eyes to the fullness of life in a magnetic field between outer perception and inner world. Her paintings lend authentic expression to her personal experience—from the social realities to the dreams. They reflect her response to opposing forces, illustrating the joys of existence but also threats and destruction.
The artist’s oeuvre spans fifty years but is marked by a watershed in 1999: a studio residency in Genoa prompted the shift from watercolour precision to big acrylic formats, with beauty and harmony giving way to expressivity and movement. Red Raven ‒ Black Poppy places the focus on this second period, while earlier works and extracts from her workbooks invite us to discover the artistic cosmos of Regula Syz in all its depth.
