Wolfgang Loesche

The inspiration of the pictorial language of Pop artists like Blake, Rosenquist, Warhol, and Rivers, which took over form the painting of the Abstract Expressionists at the beginning of the 1960s had a profound impression on Wolfgang Loesche – and today, 30 years later – still has a hold on him, especially with regard to the interaction between image and typography. This book gives examples of his process: which intersections and interpretations result from words and images? Whether it is entries in a telephone book, weather maps as daily records or others standards for logos and symbols – Loesche does not want to expose the painting tradition; on the other hand, tradition his artistic projects should not be weighed down by tradition: his art searches through energy fields for personal potential.
