Heile Welt
Werke aus der Sammlung Schmidt-Drenhaus, Teil I Works from the Schmidt-Drenhaus Collection
The concept of an intact and harmonious world is so far removed from the reality we experience that the existence of this distance continues to provoke artistic solutions. Artists use fracture, irony, and filters in order to approach the fragmentary nature of the world, in order to express their points of view: of fascination, annoyance or even criticism. Heile Welt is an exhibition of artistic observations on both current and timeless issues and also the different conceptual strategies of creative alienation and fragmentation.
The Schmidt-Drenhaus Collection began in 1968 in Cologne and contains works ranging from German Expressionism to the present day. In conjunction with the exhibition in the Kupferstich Kabinett, large sections of the collection are being exhibited in public for the first time.
