abstract art now
„floating forms“
While the current painting boom focuses especially on figurative works from the Leipzig school and related artists, the fact that is abstract art is continuing to develop and is finding new forms of expression rarely mentioned. These new forms are often found in amoeba-like, organic and flowing structures; there is also experimentation with new colour materials. Some pictures appear to have been painted, however, they are created from materials other than oil and canvas. This new abstraction progresses, in some artists, from colour rhythm to narrative expression, while remaining non-figurative.
Our selection of artistic positions aims to provoke interest in current forms of abstract expression and to enable dialogue between works. Media like photography and video art are also use in order to illustrate the relevance of abstraction today, a relevance that is not only to be found in painting itself.
