Karl Horst Hödicke is considered a pioneer of German Neo-expressionism and a prominent representative of New Figurative painting. And exclusive print has been created as a companion piece to his artist’s book, Kohle. The whole spectrum—from trenchant, rapid sketch to modulated paintings—is revealed in this artist’s book. The collection is concentrated on the second half of the 1970s, when Hödicke developed his inimitable, expressive form of figurative painting, whose influence on the young art scene in 1980s Berlin cannot be underestimated.
