Ballkünstler
This book playfully sets two teams against each other: eleven international works of art from the genres of sculpture, painting, graphic design, photography, media art, video, film and installation are displayed next to eleven exhibits from Germany.
This game and the representation of the game – images directed by media – provoke the artists to share in and question the event. Their images do not duplicate in the sense of reporting what has happened. Instead, they focus on the images created and allow them to appear in a different light through a shift in context. The great variety of the individual viewpoints of the artists unfolds a revealing panorama rich in associations, presented in dialogic situations next to documentary photography from the world of football.
