“To what extent do I actually live my own experiences and feelings? Can I allow myself to show this to others? Or are these actually roles that have been assigned to me by others or by their projections?” (Sevilay Kirmaz) This book of photographs is an attempt, beyond the cliché of glamour and voyeurism, to relocate transgender or homosexual people, through the portrayal of moments from their everyday lives. The photographer has chosen to portray her subjects alongside heterosexual people; fitting them into a world that includes all people, with the goal of provoking uncertainty and self-reflection on the part of the viewer, in order to break taboos and to question clichéd ideas.
