Norbert Prangenberg
Venustas et fortuna
Very few sculptors of the present day have redefined the canon of sculpture via a specific material as consistently as Norbert Prangenberg has done with clay. The peculiar power and character of his coloured ceramic sculptures of monumental proportions is developed from his particular unparalleled linking of mould to figure. Prangenberg has further developed his truly independent style over many decades, even during recent years when his sculptural work received less attention. His graphic and painterly works show another facet of his art practice. His most recent sculptures, shown here for the first time, show a daring linking of sculpture and image. The artist has again surprised us with his unusual direction, giving a completely new impetus to three-dimensional work.
