Muntean / Rosenblum
The paintings, collages, films and installations of Markus Muntean and Adi Rosenblum provide a very specific view of “young” people. This stage of life is used by the artists as a metaphor for the transience of life. It acts, above all, as a foil for the analysis of the collective consciousness of a generation brought up on advertising.
Muntean / Rosenblum illustrate the strategies of media marketing, which focuses on the emotions of its target audience and creates desires and passions using clichéd forms of expression. Equally, the artists refer to the art of the past and transfer the colour symbolism, formulas of pathos, attributes and compositional principles of previous styles, from the Renaissance and Baroque to Neoclassicism, onto the popular visual world of the present.
