Geometrie der Arbeit

Transfer von Kunst in gesellschaftliche Funktionsbereiche

The transformation of work is viewed as one of the major challenges of contemporary society. Contemporary art is directly affected by this process since it has an effect not only on the content, form and media of art practice but also includes new contexts and thus opportunities for the functional linking of fine art to the social working world. “The geometry of work” is a many-layered project that is part of the degree course in Art Education at The Burg Giebichenstein School of Art and Design in Halle. Here, presented in both the artistic processes of research and reflection on the heterogeneity of the contemporary interpretation and understanding of work and its various forms, and documented in artistic transfer projects in the actual world of work. It takes place in connection with a symposium in the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst (Gallery for Contemporary Art) in Leipzig; here sociological, art-theoretical and economic perspectives will be discussed.
