Cony Theis
See Me
Cony Theis (born 1958) worked for a long time as a courtroom artist, aspects of which she has clearly integrated into her artistic, creative process. Her work therefore focuses on biographies, on her current existence or even on those body parts that she paints or that describe moments of identity by means of tattoos. A great number of her works tend to be small in size. They exist mostly in an interactive space between drawing, watercolour painting and thin paper, which deliberately emphasizes transparency or billowy, rippling surfaces.
Many of her works take on an installation-like, expansive character as they develop.
