Norbert Tadeusz

Paintings 1978–2002

Even while still a student, the artist Norbert Tadeusz, who lives in Italy and Düsseldorf, turned to traditional painting and its pictorial themes. Often it is the colour that first grabs him and brings a subject to his attention. “I paint what leaps out at me <…> – a landscape, a nude, a living animal, or a still life.” These sensual colour impressions are processed by him into numerous variations and large picture formats allowing him to reproduce subjects in their actual size. Intense colours that surprise and seduce as well as playing with the viewer’s perspective form the constants in his paintings. The catalogue presents 13 large-format paintings by the artist which found their way into the Chemnitz art collections thanks to a generous gift.
