Ulrich Möckel und Christoph Seidel
This landscape is NOWHERE. Volume 1: The Sourcebook
Landscape is everywhere – and nowhere. The potential and presence of landscape only occurs when observed: it is the construct and product of an aesthetic reflection and is thus ultimately a fiction, an invisible experience. These are the ideas that the sculptor Ulrich Möckel and the painter Christoph Seidel develop in this publication: photographs, snapshots, consciously arranged and random experiences, which revealing the source of the images of and in nature that influence the work of both artists.
The fact that landscape is not only the object of invention and subjective meaning through the means of art, but is also a construct of different points of views of art from society and different disciplines is made clear in this sourcebook using a collage-like collection of essays, poetic impressions and photographic materials by the artists.
