Robert Rotar. Life and Work 1926–1999

The motif of the spiral defined the individual and unmistakeable work of the painter Robert Rotar throughout his entire life. As a symbol of the infinite, the primordial and the eternal, it is the key to his work, thought and understanding of the world. Scientific and philosophical ideas also figure: Jewish-Cabbalist, alchemist, and planetary ciphers, the Tarot, numerology, metaphysical, mystical and magical approaches as well as “coincidentia oppositorum” – the unity of opposites, death and life, death and love, death and change.
