Kitty Kraus
Kitty Kraus, winner of the art prize of the German Cooperative Banks (Kunstpreis der Deutschen Volksbanken und Raiffeisenbanken) “blauorange” in 2008, uses materials like glass, neon lights, light bulbs, fabric, tar and ink for her sculptures and installations – geometric and cubic forms that are negated by the refraction of light or by the melting or shattering of the material. The artist creates a new tension between space and plane by investigating the secrets of both dimensions: geometry, figuration and processes work together to produce an elementary form of expression.
This book is the first monograph on the artist and brings together installation views of her exhibitions as well as drawings and photographs that have at times the character of sketches, enabling a more complex view of her work.
