Art prize junger westen 2009

Graphic art, drawing, photography

A total of 515 artists entered the “junger westen 2009” art competition. The jury selected Susanne Britz and Christian Schellenberger as joint winners. Both prize winners focus equally on photography and drawing in their work: in her photographs, Susanne Britz (b. 1974) focuses on everyday objects in a playful and poetic manner. However, she is not content with presenting her work in a purely photographic setting; instead she superimposes colourful lines onto the photos, linking the objects together in an experimental setup. In his work, Christian Schellenberger (b. 1980) combines photographic research on the appearance of signs in cities with drawings. On large sheets of paper, the drawing intensifies into an individual hachure of great intensity. artists Anja Bohnhof, Susanne Britz (susannebritz), Wiebke Elzel und Jana Müller, Dorthe Goeden, Philipp Goldbach, Laura Haase, Fabian Hartmann, Annette Jonak, Katharina Kiebacher, Astrid Köppe, Astrid Korntheuer, Margarete Lindau, Sebastian Lingstädt, Ruri Matsumoto, Melanie Nyhuis, Christian Pilz, Florian Rossmanith, Helena Rossner, Simone Rueß, Sebastian Rug, Christian Schellenberger, Arne Schmitt, Simon Schubert, Karen Winzer
