A cacophony of voices laugh soundlessly in the darkness. Markus Karstieß has created a burlesque stage <…> for his creatures: a mysterious, elegant darkroom with curtains, carefully charred podiums, ramshackle pillars and dramatic shadows from which emanates an exquisite and auspicious sparkle. The setting extends to a rational, ambiguously identifiable area, which touches on ambivalent emotions and contexts: a touch of peep show, a slightly psychedelic cabinet of curiosities. Forms spring up arrogantly, untamed and archaically in the most unexpected directions. <…> Between the logic of the day and the unstructured wafting of the consciousness of the nocturnal world, his cabinet of dreams collects wondrous, vital chimera of primeval times, romance, fantasy and psychoanalysis.
