Thitz

The travels of artists have a long tradition; generations of artist have been inspired by their visits to mysterious foreign countries. Travel has also been a source of ongoing inspiration for Thitz’s paintings of the world and the city. In these works, over and over again, we discover the characteristic topographical conditions of these places; they are all have one subject in common: people. Thitz’s paintings live from this dialogue: the viewer quickly gets lost in the endless stories, in a coloured weave of houses, cars, figures and hidden messages. The view of the world we receive from the painter is as multi-layered and multi-facetted as his panoramas of the world. He shows a reality with a hidden bottom layer; its ambivalence in an accelerated, modern world filled with cultural variety but also loneliness and melancholy
