Thorsten Passfeld
It´s me again
Although he studied painting, Thorsten Passfeld has always been drawn to the material of wood, a material that is worked on directly by hand. The artist constructs large, autonomous structures – wall objects, sculptures, installations – and even entire houses. In the aesthetics and intention of the material, these objects all deliberately circumvent the dominant criteria of the art world and also call into question the idyllic world of the bourgeoisie.
This catalogue presents recent coloured wall objects by the artist; here, separate wooden sections are combined into a type of relief. Object and language merge in an ironic way, linking a sculptural use of wood with the artist’s original interest in painting. The second half of the book documents the houses constructed by the artist, all existing only for a brief period of time.
