Clemens Kaletsch
Europe Feeling
Clemens Kaletsch (born 1957) creates endless landscapes and architectural spaces, every sequence maintaining an uncertain balance between legibility and suggestion, between the creation and dissolution of form. The human figure is at their centre, sketched in its loneliness, togetherness and various behaviours.
The artist consciously locates his art within an older and modern European context. Hidden quotations and allusions, meaningful visual metaphors like stairways, bridges, mirrors, turn his historically anchored painting into a discursive terrain that also reflects the position of contemporary art. Looking backward and forwards, in a constant interplay between interior and exterior, between solidity and uncertainty, they create a Janus-like expression.
