Winfried Wolk

Between Carnival and Ash Wednesday

Winfried Wolk is a brilliant draughtsman with a penchant for the grotesque and for satirical exaggeration. His general theme is the relationship between the individual and society, which he analyses with ironic distance and whose contradictions and conflicts he illustrates. He plumbs the depths of taboos, sometimes emerging as a visionary utopian.
Winfried Wolk’s art provokes, polarises and exposes illusions. It also promotes dialogue, moves, impresses and displays a stunning ambivalence in its unabashed joy of drawing – passionately in the moment and bursting with small surprises.
