Incisions in spaces

Sculptural collages

How can the concept of the collage become three-dimensional? The eight artists presented here use found objects or pre-fabricated fragments for their sculptures and installations, merging these materials together. They develop methods of superimposition and combination, of confrontation and transformation, of montage and assemblage; here the heterogeneous – a semantic or stylistic brokenness – is an aesthetic parameter. The collage – as a fundamental design principle and a method of scepticism and analysis of the traditional concept of the image – enables many ways of bringing objects into surprising dialogue with each other and with the surrounding space.
