Art and Science about 1800
The collections of the Oberlausitzische Gesellschaft der Wissenschaften zu Görlitz
The Oberlausitzische Gesellschaft der Wissenschaften (Upper Lusatia Science Society, OLGdW) was founded in 1779 in Görlitz as a locally but also nationally networked association of scholars to promote learning, art and economics.
An extraordinary ensemble of European standing, it is located in the historic meeting house, today renovated to a high standard, containing the valuable and extensive collections, library and scientific, artistic and cultural cabinets.
IN UNO MUSEUM is a comprehensive presentation of the history of the OLGdW; here, for the first time, its significance as an institution of knowledge during the era of the Enlightenment is displayed with great splendour.
